A (different) new addition

We have a new addition on the ranch - a huge, due any day Brown Swiss cow! We got her a week ago today. Her name is "Swiss Miss" or "Swissy." She is 5 yrs old and should calve any time now. Our plan is to make #1) butter, and #2) cheese, with her milk, which we should have plenty of, Lord willing!

She's one BIG girl!

Not much going on

Well.... not too much going on besides the regular farm doings. Getting up early, milking 19 does, bottling calves and kids, feeding and watering, plus whatever else has to be done :). And doing it all over again in the evening. I still have not bred any does, nobody really has come into heat although they should be coming in any day now. So, just thought I would give a quick update. The garden is doing good and we are still getting a lot of cucumbers, but now the tomatoes are ripening and we have a lot of them now! And lots of peppers.

Random

Well, there's not too much to update on. The garden is growing like crazy, the animals are doing good, and we have milk coming out our ears! The does are starting to come into heat, and the bucks are starting to stink.  Anyway, here are a few random pictures of life on the ranch.

This is our new paint Purebred Boer buck, Luke
Calevyah, our 12 (or so) year old ranch dog, taking a swim in the pond,
Cucumbers, cucumbers and more cucumbers! We have been picking about 20 a day!
One of the yearling Quarter Horses out in the pasture,
A couple of the bottle calves. They are growing great and are sure munchers when it comes to bottle time!

Have a great day!
