31/21 - A few thoughts on National Defense

You might say this is a little bit off topic. I mean, how does National Defense tie in with life on a ranch or Down Syndrome? Well, it really does. Our national defense definitely effects our lives. Our views effect the way we vote, the way we live, the way we talk. So, here are just a few of my random thoughts on this cold morning in Oklahoma.

I was reading a blog and it ended up talking about our national defense as a country, and how our servicemen and women are not receiving the support they need. They are spread thin across far too many military bases across the world, they are away from their families, many are getting disabled, many are dying. Yet, we keep sending them overseas to supposedly protect our freedom.

How are we protecting our freedom by invading other countries? By being a military empire, is America really trying to protect our freedom? Do the people in the Middle East really hate us because we are free and prosperous? Or do they hate us because we have invaded their countries and are telling them how to live? What is getting accomplished by killing innocent civilians? What about drone strikes? 49 out of 50 drone strikes in Pakistan kill innocent civilians, only 1 out of 50 drone strikes gets a supposed terrorist.

Do I support our men and women in the military? Absolutely. They want to come home. They are the ones living out our foreign policy and they see that it does not work. They see that we need to get out of these countries. They see that we need to come home.

If all our troops were brought home, does that mean we would be practicing isolationism? Absolutely not. Calling non-interventionist foreign policy isolationism is like calling your neighbor a hermit because he doesn't throw stones at your windows.

What if there were armed Chinese troops in Texas? What would YOU do? Would you be labeled as a terrorist?
